Tomorrow is Groundhog’s Day. Tomorrow Sir Walter Wally will stick his head out of his hole to look for… actually, I don’t know exactly what he’s looking for, but if he sees his shadow, we get six more weeks of winter.
I don’t think that’s going to be an issue, though. It was 72° F today. The trees on the pathway between my building and parking deck were blooming (pictured). I found dandelions sprouting in my backyard. And my allergies kicked in a bit earlier than usual. As far as nature is concerned, winter is done and spring is here.
North Carolina weather was a pleasant surprise when we moved from Ohio, but this is something else. Has the earth dropped further off its access? Will our summer hotter than…? Or will we get snow in July? Is this further proof that this world is going to hell in a …well you get the idea.
Of course, we don’t want the extra weeks of winter, but my pessimistic self can’t help but wonder if we’ve by-passed the winter and stepped into something else entirely, maybe something sci-fi in nature; or apocalyptic; or fantasy.
Or maybe, I just need to control my imagination and focus on writing something other this blog…
