“No, no! I can’t do that. I understand what you’re saying, but I’m not trying to commit myself to this or be committed if it fails.” Not that I was any kind of expert on this, but you can’t plan a coup d’etat in four days. Who was going to join me? Plus I didn’t know the first thing about running a government. And where was I going to find a sitter on such short notice (because taking your kids to a coup d’état is just bad parenting)?
