Below is the next installment of Full of Grace. Admittedly, I am behind on my own schedule – I’ve been trying to catch up on sleep and recuperate to 100% since I got sick in March (two months ago!). But I think I’m back in the swing of things and though we’ve got lots of summer/family things happening (those pesky things) in the next few weeks, I should be able to stay on track. Thanks for visiting and happy reading.

Mary sits up on her mat. It is still dark outside, but she can no longer sleep. Her eyes adjust to her surroundings and she watches her brother and sisters sleep. Their slumber is deep, unaffected by the concerns of the world…concerns that are robbing her of her sleep.
Her menstrual cycle is late. And there is no indication it is coming.
And why should there be, she chastises herself. Is that not what the malakh said?
She sighs and lays back down, pulling her blanket up to her chin. Its smell and familiarity are comforting, but not enough to give her peace.
No, this was supposed to be a time of celebration. Their long-awaited savior was come. G-d had heard them and answered their prayers.
Instead Mary was in her bed, fretting. G-d had honored her and all she could do now was worry and wonder what to do. Her mother had insisted she not speak of the incident, and she had been obedient, but that didn’t make the truth any less…true. She was with child. By G-d. And she was carrying the mashaic.
Mary pulls the blanket over her head. She had to talk to her parents. And Joseph. Especially Joseph. The longer she waited, the harder it would be for him. Would he believe she had not been faithful? Surely he wouldn’t. He had to know she cared for him and would never do that.
She sits up again, frustration abounding. She should have told him the same day…
She sighs once more. It was too late to late to lament that now.
Mary allows the emotions to go and lies down again. All she could do now was move forward. Talk to her parents and move forward.
She listens as Kyla snores, as Oprah turns over on her mat, as Nathan mumbles something in his sleep. While she lay awake.
Yes, the sooner she talked to her parents, the better.
