Welcome back to another edition of Six Sentence Sunday. My post this week comes from my work-in-progress, Ruth and Boaz, a retelling of the Biblical tale. Regarded as perhaps the greatest show of platonic love, Ruth leaves her home to follow her mother-in-law Naomi back to Israel, where she finds love with Boaz. In today’s selection, Boaz finds himself in the midst of battle. Let me know what you think of today’s excerpt. As always, I appreciate your comments and thank you for stopping by my blog.

Boaz withdraws his sword and watches as the Moabite crumbles to the ground. He stops to catch his breath and take in the scene before him. Reality seems lost in a haze. Men lay dead and dying all around him – men whose lives had been cut short, who likely had wives and children waiting for them, who…
Before he can finish his thought, Boaz feels a sharp pain in his right shoulder. He cries out, unable to catch himself as he falls forward.
Mmm action scene! My favourite.
Can I be picky? If you had “Boaz withdraws his sword” you’re making it clear his pulling his sword out of the Moabite. 🙂
Anything to make the scene better, thank you. I appreciate the comments.
Oh dear, no time to stop and reflect in battle! A dramatic excerpt indeed!
Thank you.
