It’s time again for another edition of Six Sentence Sunday. My post this week comes from my work-in-progress, Ruth and Boaz, a retelling of the Biblical tale. Regarded as perhaps the greatest show of platonic love, Ruth leaves her home to follow her mother-in-law Naomi back to Israel, where she finds love with Boaz. In today’s selection, Naomi makes an important announcement. Let me know what you think of today’s excerpt. As always, I appreciate your comments and thank you for stopping by my blog.

“I’m returning to Israel.”
There is no emotion in Naomi’s voice as she makes her announcement.
Ruth doesn’t question her decision; indeed, there was no life left for her here in Moab. Moving was the only logical choice, but if she left, it would mean separation for Ruth again from everyone she had grown to love. Mahlon and Chilion were gone, but she felt them near her, especially Mahlon, when she was around Naomi. She couldn’t let her go and before she can think about what she’s doing, Ruth says, “I will go with you.”
I appreciate the explanation for Ruth’s decision, all so sad…but then, we know what the future holds, which will be good. Excellent excerpt!
Thanks. It’s easy to write a story when you know the end and the end is happy! Thanks for the comments.
