Welcome back and thanks for joining us for another week of Weekend Writing Warriors. I am happy to announce the release of my new book, Speak Tenderly To Her, from which this week’s snippet comes from. Last week, we met Tory, who was shocked to find his ex, Isobel, sitting at his front steps after being gone for four years. He reluctantly agrees to take her in for two weeks and Isobel is grateful but she’s got secrets she’s not ready to divulge and keeping them from Tory may prove difficult.
You can read the full synopsis here. As always, I love your comments and feedback.
Isobel didn’t plan to linger in the shower, but when the hot water hit her, it felt so comforting. She relaxed as the streams massaged her back and gave her a sense of renewal. She could start this day, having washed everything else off.
She was drying herself off when the door suddenly opened. It was Tory. Startled, she screamed and frantically reached for her towel as he apologized and shut the door. Isobel’s heart continued to race even after she wrapped the towel tightly around her. She wasn’t prudish, nor was she shy, and she wasn’t showing enough for him to figure out she was pregnant; she just didn’t want him to see the bruises on her legs and her back.
Oh wow…what happened to her? I’m definitely curious for more. Congrats on your release!
Thanks so much. I’m excited.
Nicely done. Great place to leave us–wanting to know what happened.
Thanks.
Great hints of painful secrets here!
Thanks.
If those involve her secret, sounds like she has a problem.
They do and she does. Thanks for the comment.
Congratulations on the book release! Enjoyed the excerpt, loved the way things were so calm and soothing and then you startle us with the pregnancy and the bruises. Great 8 ,leaves me wanting to read more.
Thanks Veronica.
