It’s been a few years since I released a book. Not for lack of trying, life has kept me busily distracted.
Oh, I had many, many ideas and stories I wanted to pursue, but the time never seemed right.
I never stopped writing though. The ideas and stories were always there, staring me in the face, quietly asking, “What are we doing? When are you going to publish again?”
Legitimate questions, if not a cheeky ones.
I had one manuscript that was mostly complete, but I decided that one should be released as a serial novel on my Substack newsletter.
I did have another though, about 75% complete, just waiting for its debut… The Writer Within.
This book started off as an episode on Authors Up, the podcast I cohost with Andrea Hines and Victoria Henderson. From the beginning, our desire was to give a platform to authors to share their stories and to help writers hone their craft. We’d often shared tips and tools to that end, but this show was a little different in that its sole purpose was to give would-be writers the tips needed to get started writing.
You can only fit so much in a thirty-minute segment though, and I quickly realized the content needed to be expounded on in book form.
It was, after all, what I was good at.
And it would provide an answer to the one question I had been constantly and consistently asked over the years: How do I begin writing a book?
The Writer Within is an introspective exercise designed to equip the would-be writer as they begin their writing journey. It poses five questions to help them begin preparing a roadmap that will guide them through the beginning (and hopefully the completion) of their book.
And as my website audience, you get to see the cover first!

Right now, the release is set for early 2026, but stay tuned for more information.
As always, thanks for following my writing journey!
